Sticking It

Every animal she touched
which jumped into traffic
each pebble she whistled at
which went sputtering
she was able to caress
and come away
sweet and cruel
hot damn did I love her
the blankets she eyed
the straws she maneuvered
into town
each train she folded
and put by the lava lamp
my pants hollering
like  a madman
as she burst out laughing
from a cracker
I said can't you wait
until we get out of the store
